Prayer: This writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution
of India, seeking writ of mandamus directing the respondents to release
water into the Kalingarayan Canal for the first crop irrigation of the water
year 2026-2027 with immediate effect, the natural flow in the River
Bhavani from 16.06.2026 onwards being calculated and released as per the
Compendium of Rules of Regulations framed under Chief Engineer
(Irrigation) Memo No.9989/53/NEP dated 09.08.1954 and Memo

This writ petition is filed for the following relief:
“To direct respondents to release water into the Kalingarayan
Canal for the first crop irrigation of the water year 2026-2027
with immediate effect, the natural flow in the River Bhavani
from 16.06.2026 onwards being calculated and released as per
the Compendium of Rules of Regulations framed under Chief
Engineer (Irrigation) Memo No.9989/53/NEP dated 09.08.1954

and Memo No.C3/43169/83/CP Dated 30.07.1984, the Kodiveri

2. Though the petitioner has sought the aforesaid relief, considering
the fact that all these issues have been addressed in the representation
dated 01.09.2026, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to
consider and dispose of the said representation and pass orders within a
period of 2 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after
hearing other parties who are drawing water from Bhavani Sagar Dam.
3. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No
costs.
