Assent of the Governor published in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 25th February, 2008. An Act to provide for the establishment and incorporation of West Bengal State University (Barasat, North 24-Parganas) in the district of North 24-Parganas in the State of West Bengal and for certain matters incidental thereto and connected therewith. Whereas it is expedient to establish and incorporate the West Bengal State University (Barasat, North 24-Parganas) in the district of North 24-Parganas in the State of West Bengal for encouraging and providing for instruction, teaching, training and research in various branches of learning and courses of study, promoting advancement and dissemination of knowledge and learning and extending higher education, and for meeting the growing needs of the society; It is hereby enacted as follows:-
